Exhibition Date: 14 May – 8 June 2026
Meeting Point is an open invitation to find ourselves in someone else’s perspective. No hierarchies, no heavy baggage, just five cultures colliding in a space that feels both global and deeply personal.
Kate Contemporary brings together artists from Japan, Korea, Belgium, the Netherlands, the Philippines, and Spain to see what happens when different visual frequencies start to sync up. However, this isn’t just about where we came from; it’s also cabout where we find ourselves now. This is about eleven artists of varying cultural backgrounds converging in one gallery in Madrid, a current global intersection.
This group exhibition creates a physical pit stop for the artists’ perceptions of a “meeting point”. This is where we see how the artists’ different ideas of origins and diaspora, as well as their distinct artistic creativity, come together.
The eleven artists chosen by the gallery to participate in this international show are: Ana Belén Alfonsel, Melchor Balsera, Bea Batungbacal, Chiara Capony, Rocío Gmu, Takahiro Hirabayashi, Tadashi Kashiwada, Beatriz Ortega, Thea Quiachon, Charlotte Seuntjens, and Kay Woo.
The artists’ varying styles and artworks allow us to navigate through the layers of definitions of what it means for a space such as an art gallery to be a place of encounter. Through an impressive diversity of artistic expressions, the exhibition gives viewers several perspectives as to what a “meeting point” is.
Meeting Point is on view from 14 May to 8 June 2026 at Kate Contemporary, Calle de Jorge Juan, 64, Madrid, Monday through Saturday.
