In a world defined by constant movement and excess, Re-Purposeful invites a moment of pause. On view from 19 May to 17 June 2025, this exhibition explores art’s ability to create beauty and meaning from discarded fragments, offering a space for reflection on how the material world shapes our understanding of purpose.
Filipino mixed-media artist Martin Honasan uses acrylics to depict human faces, prompting reflections on being, essence, and identity. Thai artist Teetuch Hongkhongkha repurposes melted plastic bags, compelling visitors to rethink their relationship with the environment. Spanish artist Teresa Esteban’s work delves into the intersection of cultures, with pieces inspired by her experiences in Manila and Chiang Mai.
Through these diverse works, Re-Purposeful emphasizes the human drive to seek meaningful connections with culture, environment, and self. Kate Contemporary presents this exhibition to provoke thought and inspire a deeper understanding of art’s power to reshape meaning.
