Kate Contemporary and J Studio present “Synthesis”, a group show featuring Norman Dreo, Alvin Florentino, Binong Javier, Didi Lopa and Norlie Meimban. On view from 10 November - 30 December 2025, the show combines the works of five different Filipino artists in an exhibit that highlights the keen ability of artists to bring distinct, almost contradicting elements to create a cohesive whole.
Norman’s social imagery immerses viewers to individual elements in order to appreciate the bigger, more relevant picture while Alvin renders both nostalgia and the delicate in intricate, highly-detailed works. Binong is able to project a harmonious image through geometric abstraction. On the other hand, Didi’s experimental techniques with acrylics bring to the fore both the physical and symbolic attributes of flowers while Norlie’s kinetic art demonstrate movement, depth and activity.
“Synthesis” reflects on the inherent importance of synthesizing in art. From choosing materials, subjects, and textures to balancing every element that forms an artwork, the process of synthesis includes not only combining, but also discerning, prioritizing and even removing, to ultimately create a piece that is whole, harmonious and with aesthetic integrity.
The exhibit is the first international collaboration of J Studio (Philippines) and Kate Contemporary (Spain).
